Gov. Pillen Congratulates NDCS Director on Becoming CLA Board President

LINCOLN, NE – Today, Governor Jim Pillen is offering his congratulations to Director Rob Jeffreys of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) for being named board president to the Correctional Leaders Association (CLA). Jeffreys will assume the role Dec. 1, following the retirement of current board president Anne Precythe.

Jeffreys was appointed by Gov. Pillen following a nationwide search for a new director of NDCS. He has been leading the agency since April.

“Rob has hit the ground running since coming to Nebraska, including identifying an appropriate site for the state’s new 1,512 bed facility,” said Gov. Pillen. “He has over two decades of experience in criminal justice and corrections and is well positioned to lead CLA. Nebraska is proud to be represented in this way through this national industry organization.”

Jeffreys is currently the vice president of CLA. Membership includes top leaders from the nation’s major correctional systems and jails, who oversee more than 400,000 correctional professionals and approximately eight million incarcerated individuals, probationers and parolees.

Before coming to NDCS, Jeffreys was director of the Illinois Department of Corrections. In addition to becoming president of CLA, Jeffreys was recently appointed to the board of the International Corrections and Prison Association (ICPA).
